4

One of the most anticipated Knicks seasons in the last 30 years has almost arrived. New York will hold his first official practice on Tuesday to open the training camp. The regular season begins in less than 30 days.

Mike Brown & Co. will use the next few weeks to determine formations, rotations and strategies that work best for its group.

The coaches and the front office will also decide which players remain for the regular season.

There are many other important decisions/problems to be solved in the next few days.

With this in mind, here is a look at the largest plots to keep an eye on during the training/preset field …

How are roles defined?

Something that held the Knicks of 2024-25 back, in my opinion, was the lack of definition of the role. Will the Knicks and the first year coach Mike Brown clearly define the role of each player? I am sure that organizations/coaches have different approaches to this. Perhaps some leaders like to let the players understand their role as the season advances. Maybe they don’t want to be too rigid in defining the roles. But last season, the lack of definition of the role led to some confusion in the changing rooms on attempts/use of the shot. Even if this may seem like a small thing, it can certainly derail a talented team.

The Knicks obviously have a lot of talent. S It is incredibly important to define the roles for the talent of this team/keep players responsible in their roles.

Youth Vs. EXPERIENCE

The Knicks have a hard decision of the roster in front of them: in a season in which the expectation is the final or the bust of the NBA, the club is better with the younger players at the end of the roster or with proven veterinarians?

If the Knicks want, they can keep veterans Landry Shamet AND Malcolm Brogdon In the roster of the regular season. But they will probably have to sacrifice one of their young perspectives to keep both veterans.

The salary of the New York team cannot exceed $ 207.8 million, also known as the "Second apron" In the spending of the NBA team. The Knicks currently do not have enough space under the second apron to sign both Shamet and Brogdon.

So, if they want to keep both veterans on the roster, they will have to lose some salary through trade. Operations involving Miles McBride, Pacome Dadiet OR Tyler Kolek They are the most direct paths to travel that hiring (even if the Knicks exchanged Kolek, maintained both veterans and had not made other exchanges, they would not be able to sign another veteran during the season).

As noted last week, I would expect the Knicks to let things go during the field/presets before they move to keep both Brogdon and Shamet. But if I am betting at the beginning of the training field, I bet BRODGON and SHAMET are on the roster of the regular season. This knicks team is in win-gnow mode and accidents a Jayson Tatum AND Tyrese Haliburton Give them a path directed to the NBA finals. They know they have a great opportunity to play at the end of June. That’s why I think they will in the end will go with the veteran depth in Brogdon and Shamet.

Starting the change of training?

Last season, the Knicks began Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Bridges Mikal, Og anunoby AND City of Karl-Antony. The training showed an early promise but fought later in the regular season. That beginning five had a clear evaluation of -1.4 in the matches of the regular season played on January 1st or after January 1st. That beginning five was also exceeded a total of 50 points in the first 13 games of their 17 -games playoffs.

Former coach Tom Thibodeau he changed his appetizers after play 2 of the Knicks-Pacers series, inserting Mitchell Robinson in the initial training. Hart came out of the bench.

Will brown stick to the formation used more often in 2024-25? Will it make a change? Before Brown was hired, the Knicks talks with some free agents included the idea that Towns and Robinson would start together in 2025-26. Obviously, Brown will make the final decision on the initial formation. It is probably one of the most important decisions he will make in his first year in New York.
