3 observations after Sixers end the matches of Abu Dhabi with another defeat for Knicks – NBC Sports Philadelphia
The Sixer are halfway through the preblical program and ready to return home.
The team concluded his ABU Dhabi action against the Knicks on Saturday with a second consecutive loss, falling to a defeat of 112-104.
Tyrese Maxey scored 16 points from the first half and scored the second.
The third of the four Sixers’ preset matches is scheduled for next Friday 10 October against The Magic. Here are the observations on their loss on Saturday:
Edgecombe jumps out
The Sixers launched the same initial formation as their preset opening: Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Kelly Oubre Jr., Dominick Barlow and Adem Bona. They remained without Joel Embiid (left knee), Paul George (left knee), Jared McCain (right thumb) and trendon Watford (right knee tendon).
Edgecombe was the star of the first minutes on Saturday, scoring or helping all the first 10 points of the Sixers.
At the first possession of the game, EdgeCombe has engaged in an attempt in three points by Jalen Brunson and made all his free shots. He recorded the next two points of the amazing Sixers in style with a quick car from the wing followed by a crash from the board. The debutant showed zero concern for the presence of OG ANUNOBY in the paint.
EdgeCombe assisted a corner of Barlow Tre and a long two long at the beginning. He had a safe and striker approach without being reckless in his decision -making process.
The Baylor product also knocked down a triple Catch-and-Shoot later in the first quarter. He was not hesitant in putting the jumpers, but this was a relatively weak area of his game in Abu Dhabi. Edgecombe Air took a couple of three points attempts on Saturday.
The offense must refine the open
For the usual customers of the Sixers, filming was not a bright point in any of their first two competitions.
For the most part, the offensive problems of the Sixers can be affected by the rust of the collective pre -hexon as jumps of jumps (and the absences of Embiid, George, McCain and Watford). The installation of new aspects of their offense is another remarkable factor, although the Sixers seem to simplify things in Abu Dhabi, leaning on the basic principles of the Drive-and-Kick in the middle of the field.
The offense led by the Sixey began to seem more clear, faster and better in the complex of the second quarter. Continuous improvements will be expected in the weeks that led to the opening of the normal season on October 22 against the Celtics.
An opportunity for Chandler to show his game
The second unit of the Sixers had a decent day.
Jabari Walker started the second half in Barlow and Kennedy Chandler took Maxey’s place at Point Guard.
Chandler faces clear challenges less than 6 feet, but he is a fast and aggressive player and has had many good moments on Saturday. He created a defensive culminating point in the first quarter when he hit a poor backcourt stolen against Miles McBride. Chandler also found a groove of score in the second half.
Hunter Sallis and veterans of the two -way contract guards and Eric Gordon and Kyle Lowry did not play on Saturday. Chandler, Walker, Andre Drummond, Justin Edwards, Johni Broome, Malcolm Hill and Saint Thomas appeared outside the Sixers’ bench.
