Brown led the King Sacramento for two over seasons and signed an extension of the three-year contract in June 2024. After a 13-18 departure last season, the kings shot Brown in December.

The work of the Knicks will be the fifth of Brown as head coach of the NBA. Together with the kings, he led the Los Angeles Lakers and had two periods with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also worked as assistant of the Washington Wizards, San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers and Golden State Warriors.

Brown was a candidate for Knicks work in 2020 before the franchise eventually hired Thibodeau.

Brown’s intake comes at the end of a process that began with numerous waste. The Knicks asked to speak with the Dallas Maverks, Quin Snyder of the Atlanta Hawks, Billy Donovan of the Chicago Bulls, Ime Udoka of the Houston Rockets and Chris Finch of the Minnesota Timberwolves but were rejected.
