According to reports, Malik Monk will begin the season on the Kings Sacramento roster

Throughout the summer, the King Sacramento have explored the commercial market of Malik Monk. He was linked to Detroit as part of a sign to bring Dennis Schroder to Sacramento, but that agreement was made without Monk. He was part of the offer of sign of the kings for Jonathan Kuminga who was never done.

The commercial discourse of the monks seems to be faded. The kings are not actively involved in any commercial interview for Monk and seems likely to start the season in the capital of California, which could have an impact on the future of Russell Westbrook, reports Marc Stein of the Stein line on Scassa.

“After Sacramento explored various commercial scenarios at the beginning of this summer involving Malik Monk, the sources of the League say that the kings are not actively engaged in these commercial interviews now. The kings have maintained an interest in free referee not signed Russell Westbrook, they say sources, but I was told that they have actually explored the possibility of creating a backcourt in Westbrook by other monks.

This is the dead period of the year for the offers, largely because this is the period of the year in which the staff of the front office NBA tends to be on vacation. Things start backup – both for potential operations and for the Limited free agents still not signed – closer to the beginning of the training field in a month. The speech of a monk trade could increase then, but this could be more a case in which the training camp and the Re wait for the market, taking their time to see if a team realizes that it needs help for the guard, or an injury changes the dynamic somewhere. The kings are deep with the guards and would be looking for help for the frontcourt, as well as remaining financially flexible in the future to remodel the roster (for how long Zach Lavine and Domantas Sabonis are with the kings are under discussion).

For the kings, exchange monk with Westbrook would save money (sacrament is about $ 3.1 million below the luxury tax line and concluded the first apron, another 7 million dollars above). Monk is entering the second year of a four-year contract of $ 78 million and is intended to earn $ 18.8 million in this season-Une Equo market contract for what he brings to the table (probably also an agreement for the team). Westbrook, however, is unlikely to receive more than one minimum veteran agreement.

Monk could provide the guard depth for many rotations around the League. Last season in Sacramento, Monk scored on average 17.2 points and 5.6 assists a game. It is a 35% 3 35% shooting that fought a little with that blow last season (32.5%).

Monk can start the season in Sacramento, but it would be a surprise if it ends it there.
