After the NBA Draft, Warriors rolls up the sleeves for free agency, operations – NBC Sports Bay Area and California

San Francisco – Once again. Another possibility of conquering the mountain. One last race to glory. The chances are long, the fierce competition, yet it is the only goal in front of the warriors.
The training camp for the Golden State front Office ends on Monday, when the NBA Libera Agency begins. Having browsed the draft, adding two rookie who will be spectators for what is in advance, the general manager Mike Dunleavy and his lieutenants now grasp the hats and dive into the real work.
Through operations and free agency, the Warriors will try to navigate towards a list able to make an honest attempt to lift Stephen Curry & Company on top of the League. The research begins by addressing the question asked Thursday by the former Golden State GM Bob Myers in his role as an NBA analyst on Espn:
Can you do it through the West?
Priority One for Warriors is working through Jonathan Kuminga’s enigma. Talent player, but four seasons in his career, still a misfit in the roster. The market for him is not hot, for championship sources, but it is sufficient for the possibility of movement. The safest path of Golden State seems to transform Kuminga – and more – into a couple of players who may not combine his gift for the show but are more fluid attacks with the nucleus of the roster.
Warriors should make a qualified offer in Kuminga by 14:00 on Sunday, since this would give them the right to match any offer that makes its way into a limited free agency.
“I think that for both sides, we would like to understand something as soon as possible,” said Dunleavy on Thursday evening. “But that’s how it goes. Sometimes, there is a restriction in a free agency. So, we will not tie it too much. The main thing is to make the right decisions, understand everything, whether it is day 1 or day 10, or anything else. They are prepared to take it as far as it goes.”
Warriors have more Kuminga needs, on its best day, can provide. The defense of Gary Payton II’s attack point has slipped into the post-installation, so it is a need. The curry knee tendon wound in the semifinals of the Western Conference of the Western Conference has exposed their scarcity of shooting, especially outside the bench. And yes, there is a need for an imposing presence in the paint.
These needs were reflected in the release of Golden State from the playoffs and reflected in the latest chances of the championship for the NBA season of 2026.
Nine teams are better likely to the Warriors and five of them are in the West: the reigning champion Oklahoma City (favorite), Houston, Denver, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota. San Antonio and Golden State are stuck in a draw. The teams in the East are Cleveland, New York, Orlando – Yes, magic – And Boston, who is auctioning parts of a list that eight months ago celebrated Ring Night at the TD Garden.
Warriors are blocked at the distant end of the corridor of the NBA contenders, with 30 percent of the League between them and the prize.
Looking at the current list, it seems completely reasonable to foresee a sixth place in the West for warriors.
It is abundantly clear that today’s Golden State roster cannot be, and the roster that presents itself for the training field will not be. The stellar trio of Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green fills Golden’s glass State only half. Those who fill the other half will give what this team will fly. Future drafts are available, because they are not useless in 2025-26.
The warriors can no longer sell themselves as they did in the days of glory, when they seduce the areas free agents by launching the young Steph, their delicious atmosphere and the call of a ring. They destroyed the competition for Kevin Durant, one of the most attractive free agents in the history of American sport. How absurd that Leandro Barbosa, David West and Zaza Pachulia have put their signatures on contracts for the minimum of veteran?
Or that in March 2019, Andrew Bogut came out of semi-praising in Australia to sign an agreement in favor of the vet and veterinarian to reunite with the team with three weeks left in the regular season?
It’s a different day and warriors know it.
“I think our list will be good,” said Dunleavy, with confidence, Thursday evening. “Deep.”
To achieve this, you will need suits, boots, gloves and hard hats. It is time to grind.
