League leaders Arsenal host Tottenham at the Emirates on Sunday, with Mikel Arteta’s side hoping to extend their lead at the top.
Manchester City will wait for any slip-ups – but Pep Guardiola’s side will have their own big test at St James’ Park against Newcastle United.

Burnley vs Chelsea
Burnley will feel like they can take advantage of the early kick-off as they are at home. We know Turf Moor is a tough place to get to, but I still think Chelsea could win.
Chelsea are unbeaten in their last four games and Maresca will be looking to continue that momentum – which I think he will.
Prediction: Chelsea victory.
Bournemouth v West Ham
Two great wins for West Ham which will give them hope and confidence, but I can’t see them going to Bournemouth and getting anything. They will feel they can and it’s a good game for them but I think Bournemouth will have too many at home.
Bournemouth must get back to winning ways. They had a good start to the season and were flying. It’s a big game for Bournemouth and I think they will get back to winning ways.
Prediction: Bournemouth win.
Brighton v Brentford
Brighton is very difficult to predict. Brentford have had some good results recently and Keith Andrews will be pleased with how they are performing, but I will be aiming for a home win.
No one would have expected Igor Thiago to score like he did, and you have to recognize how well managed Brentford are with the fact that they can sell Wissa and Mbuemo for big money and had someone waiting to come in. They already have a head start and Thiago has had a brilliant start. He’s clumsy and seems difficult to play against and you know you’ve been in a match when you’ve played against him.
Prediction: Brighton victory.
Fulham v Sunderland
Sunderland can maintain their form. They make it difficult for teams, have a system that works for them and Xhaka does a great job protecting the defense. Fulham need to get results pretty quickly. This one is really hard to predict. I’m going to draw lots.
Fulham are already there in a relegation fight and that becomes a huge problem if they are beaten this weekend. This would really prepare them for a long and difficult season and you might start to feel the pressure building.
Prediction: Draw.
Liverpool v Nottingham Forest
I watched Liverpool in the Champions League and they were incredible, then they went to Man City and were really poor. Hard to call here but they will think this is a great opportunity to kick off their season. They have a good chance of being at home after the international break. I will aim for a victory at Liverpool. This is a great opportunity for them to get back to winning ways.
Nottingham Forest will sit back and try to frustrate and then they have the players to hit you on the break with pace and that’s what gave them a lot of success last year. Sean will realize this and know it, so they will try to make it very difficult and frustrating for Liverpool.
Prediction: Liverpool victory.
Wolves vs Crystal Palace
I think we’ll see something from Wolves. Whether we’ll see enough of it is a larger question. I understand why Rob Edwards wanted to return given his links to the club, but it’s a huge gamble on his part with the position Boro find themselves in. I don’t think this is a good start for him. The wolves may already be planning to go down, only to come up again. As hard as it can be. I will try for an away victory.
Prediction: Crystal Palace win.
Newcastle vs Man City
It’s a big game and difficult to decide, but with the form Haaland is in, how can you take them on? If Newcastle can stop him, which is a huge if, then they’ll win the game I suppose. Few can stop him, but St James will rock and won’t allow another weak performance. I know we sometimes have a leg performance after the international break, but I don’t think the fans or Eddie Howe will allow it. I’m going to draw lots.
Prediction: Draw.
Leeds v Aston Villa
Leeds don’t score many goals. I know they are comfortable with the crowd cheering for them but I think it will be a long and difficult season for them. I haven’t seen anything that suggests this won’t be the case. Aston Villa will have too many, especially in the advanced areas, so I’ll be aiming for an away win.
Leeds cannot afford to be beaten. The only thing you don’t need is a team coming onto your field and beating you. Leeds simply need to show their fight on their own turf by saying ‘we know we can go down, but if we do we will fight’.
Prediction: Aston Villa win.
Arsenal vs. Tottenham
Man City will have already played and claimed their points, or none. But whatever happens, Arsenal’s mentality is that they have to win the game. It’s always difficult to predict a derby match, but I think I’ll just put my money on Arsenal to win. Usually I draw, but I think I’ll just pick Arsenal to win.
From 17th place last season until now, the football hasn’t been great from Spurs, but you can see the stamp of Thomas Frank on this team. They have improved from set pieces and I think it will take time. I think Thomas Frank will be quietly satisfied with the way things have gone so far.
Prediction: Arsenal win.
My combined Arsenal and Tottenham XI (4-3-3)
David Raya
Jurien Bois
Gabriel
Micky Van de Ven
Riccardo Califori
Declan Rice
Martin Zubimendi
Martin Odegaard
Bukayo Saka
Eberechi Eze
Viktor Gyokeres
Man United v Everton
Man United are on a good run and the comeback against Spurs suggests they are all in this together and have the bit between their teeth. It will be difficult because Everton will frustrate them. But with Cunha and Mbuemo, they have two players who ask a lot of the opposition. This is why I will aim for a home victory.
Prediction: Man United win.
