Arsenal agree loan deal to sign Piero Hincapie with mandatory clause | Football

Arsenal concluded a loan agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Piero Hincie.

The Mikel Arteta team had interviews with Leverkusen this week for an agreement for the equatorial international, which also aroused the interest of Tottenham.

Hincapie has a liberation clause of 60 million euros (51.8 million pounds sterling) in its agreement with Leverkusen and the Bundesliga team wanted torsenal to pay the total amount.

However, athletics reports that Arsenal will sign Hincie on loan but will have the obligation to buy the defender for 52 million euros (45 million pounds Sterling) next year.

Leverkusen also negotiated a 10% sales clause as part of their agreement with Arsenal.

Hincie, who agreed with a five-year contract with Arsenal, will go to London this weekend to undergo a medical.

Speaking during his time as a Leverkusen chief coach, Xabi Alonso was full of praise for the capacity of Hincipie.

“I think he is a very modern defender,” said Alonso.

“He can play in different positions. He served us as rear in recent matches, but was also the left central defender when we played with a rear three.
