Arsenal seems to sign the Bayer Less Le Star Leverkusen Piero Hincie after having diverted the pursuit of Tottenham from the central defender. And the 23 -year -old was compared to Lionel Messi last year after having already been informed that he was similar to the Spurs defender, Cristian Romero.

Arsenal experienced a fruitful summer transfer window after winning a host of talented stars. The Gunners brought Martin Zubimenddi, Viktor Gyokerres, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera and Noni Madueke, Ebelechi Eze joining them to the Emirates on the weekend when his arrival was announced before the 5-0 game of his team.

Arsenal is not yet finished on the transfers market, then with Hincapie on their wishes list.

The defender would have told the leaders of Leverkusen that he wanted to leave the club before the transfer window of this summer, despite the fact that he had only signed a new contract last December.

Arsenal could keep the player from Germany away if he fills his release clause with 52 million pounds sterling, but the northern London giants want to reduce this figure to a more realistic market value.

Hincapie, who has already been crowned 46 times by Ecuador, joined Leverkusen of the Argentine CA Talleres team in August 2021.

He continued to make 166 appearances for the German team and was a key element of the team which won the title of Bundesliga under Xavi Alonso during the 2023/24 campaign.

And after Hincapie signed his last contract at Bayarena, the managing director of Leverkusen, Simon Rolfes, paid him one of the highest that a footballer could receive by gushing: “Piero Hincie joined us in 2021 as a 19 -year -old talent. But even then, you can see how confident it is in its abilities.

“Today, Piero is in the world class professionals like Lionel Messi or Mo Salah. He has gained respect around the world. ”

Hincie also revealed during an interview with Scouted Football a few years ago that he had been compared to Romero when he was still playing for independent of Del Valle in his homeland.

“My brother tells me that I have a lot, I love him very much,” said the central defender.

He added: “On Friday, when we traveled by bus for seven or eight hours to play for independent Del Valle, I watched a lot of videos of (Carlos) Puyol and Sergio Ramos.

“I watched the videos so that I don’t get bored on the bus and that’s where I really liked Puyol. He had a special way to play – perhaps less technical than Ramos – but he was a leader and a captain. One of the best central defenders I have ever seen.”
