Arsenal are eyeing a move for this AC Milan winger

In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Arsenal are considering a move for AC Milan winger Rafael Leao. It has been revealed that the Gunners are hoping to make a move for the Portuguese player in the January transfer window.

Leao’s impressive form in Serie A

Leao has enjoyed good form at the Italian club this season as he has managed to produce a string of impressive performances for them on the attacking end of the pitch. The 26-year-old has found the net five times and has one assist in eight appearances for AC Milan during this campaign in various competitions.

The Portuguese talent has proven himself in the final third averaging 2.58 shots per 90 minutes in Serie A. He kept 38.5% of his attempts on target. Leao has also been excellent in distributing the ball in the opposition’s half, as evidenced by his 75.9% pass success rate in the Italian first division (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract with the Italian club will expire in the summer of 2028, so it won’t be easy for Arsenal to strike a deal for him on the cheap next year.

What will Leao add to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta’s side?

Leao is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some dangerous runs with it down the flanks. He has the eye to play some assists in the final third and can shoot the ball powerfully from long range.

The Portuguese talent can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. Leao is primarily a left winger but can also play as a midfielder if necessary. However, some concerns remain over his ability to make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.

We can expect Leao to add more firepower to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s frontline. He is more than capable of challenging for a regular starting place at the Emirates Stadium.

At 26, Leao has his peak years ahead of him, making him a decent choice for the Gunners in January or at the end of this season.
