Arsenal Are Keeping A Keen Eye On This Bundesliga Keeper: Good Choice For Arteta?

In a recent interview with Bild, journalist Christian Falk revealed that Arsenal are closely monitoring Heidenheim goalkeeper Diant Ramaj, who is currently on loan from Borussia Dortmund. Falk said:

“That’s right, yes, Ramaj is on the list at Arsenal. The Heidenheim goalkeeper has actually just been loaned out by Dortmund, so they should sit down with them.

“Arsenal have a good keeper in goal, David Raya, who is clearly the number 1. So we are talking more about a replacement. There is also Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is already 31, and both have contracts until 2028, so for Ramaj it would be more promising, but of course an interesting club.”

Ramaj’s recent form in German football

Ramaj is enjoying a decent loan spell at the German club as he has put in some impressive performances for them in the Bundesliga. The 24-year-old has conceded 34 goals and kept one clean sheet in 16 appearances for Heidenheim this season in various competitions.

The German sensation is under contract with his parent club Borussia Dortmund until the summer of 2029, so Arsenal would need to make a convincing offer if they want to sign Ramaj in 2026.

Will Ramaj be a good choice for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta?

Ramaj can be a safe pair of hands between the sticks when playing confidently on the field. He is also a strong ball handler and can use his quick reflexes to make important saves at the back for his team.

Measuring 1.89 m, the German goalkeeper is also very present in the air. However, some concerns remain over his ability to adapt to the high intensity of the Premier League if the Gunners manage to sign him next year.

Ramaj would undoubtedly add more quality and depth to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s midfield. He has what it takes to serve as the ideal understudy to David Raya at the north London club.

At 24, Ramaj has his best years ahead of him, making him a decent choice for the Gunners in January or at the end of this campaign. However, Arteta needs to give him time to settle in England before he can get the best out of him.
