Arsenal are keeping tabs on this Real Madrid prospect
In a recent report, AS revealed that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Real Madrid prospect Victor Valdepenas. It has been mentioned that the Gunners are expected to compete with AC Milan and other Bundesliga clubs in the pursuit of the Spanish centre-back.
Valdepenas’ impressive rise in Spanish football
Valdepenas has come through the youth ranks at Real Madrid and has done well to break into his first team this season. The 19-year-old has made one senior appearance for Los Blancos so far.
The Spanish talent has caught the eye of Real Madrid Castilla at times and deserves credit for scoring two goals and collecting one assist in 36 appearances for Los Blancos so far in all competitions.
His current contract with the Madrid club will expire in the summer of 2029, so it won’t be easy for the Gunners to sign him at a reduced price later this year.
Arsenal keeping tabs on Valdepenas: is he a future prospect?
Valdepenas is a strong tackler of the ball and can sense danger well to win the ball back for his team in his own half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition is on the offensive.
The Spanish sensation is primarily a central defender but can also operate as a left-back if necessary. However, Valdepenas is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level. Furthermore, concerns remain over his ability to cope with the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if the Gunners manage to secure a deal for him next summer.
We can expect Valdepenas to bring more quality to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s backline in the long term. He is already good enough to serve as a good rotation piece in the north London club’s matchday squad.
At 19 years old, Valdepenas has the potential to one day become a world-class player at his position. This is definitely a prospect to watch in the future. Therefore, Arteta would be wise to do everything in his power to lure him to the Emirates Stadium next summer.
