Arsenal ‘aware’ key star is ‘making plans’ to leave this year; Arteta ‘lines up’ shock £60m Newcastle transfer

Premier League leaders Arsenal are “aware” that one of their key players is “considering” leaving the club this year, according to reports.

Everything looks rosy for Arsenal this season as they are well placed to end their long trophy drought.

Arsenal’s serious injury problems have contributed to a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, but they have spent £250 million to arguably complete their squad this summer by achieving their key targets.

This company leaves head coach Mikel Arteta with quality options at every position, meaning they have been better equipped to deal with their injury problems this season.

The Gunners have also taken advantage of Liverpool and Man City’s struggles by moving clearly to the top of the Premier League table, while also holding a strong position in the Champions League and Carabao Cup.

The north London side have also looked to sign key players for long-term replacements, with academy product Bukayo Saka to be the latest to sign a new contract after reaching a ‘deal’.

However, an insider’s report on X claims Arsenal risk losing Gabriel Martinelli this year.

The Brazil international, like Saka, was expected to become a world-class player as he rose through the ranks at Arsenal, but he has failed to get going in recent seasons as he has slipped down the pecking order.

Arteta often prefers Leandro Trossard on the left, while Martinelli also faces competition from Eberechi Eze ahead of another potential signing this year as they remain linked with Real Madrid’s Rodrgyo.

This contributed to reports linking Martinelli with an exit over the past year, as Bayern Munich and Saudi Pro League sides were mooted as possible destinations. Now the transfer insider claims that the winger and his representatives are already working on a move ahead of next season.

As mentioned, Arsenal already have a near-flawless squad, but they still seem keen on signings. as The Sun report they have ‘planned’ a move for £60million Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento.

The report claims: “Livramento’s versatility makes him an attractive option, with the defender being equally capable at left-back as he is on the right. Arsenal are not expected to have a busy January window after their £241million outlay this summer.

“Manchester City are interested in a long-term move and are considered serious contenders for his signature ahead of next season.”
