Arsenal confirmed that Martin Odegaard had undergone a knee ligament injury on Saturday’s victory against West Ham United. The midfielder was substituted during the first half, having initially attempted to play before descending on the lawn. He was then spotted in a knee splint and the severity of the problem was now confirmed.

Odegaard has undergone a medial collateral ligament injury to his left knee, forcing him to withdraw from the Norway team. He was initially called by his national team, but withdrew because of his latest setback. Arsenal confirmed the news on Sunday, revealing that Oncegaard would remain in London during the international break for treatment.

They said: “Martin will continue to be evaluated and treated by our medical team at the Sobha Realty Training Center during the international window, in order to return to action as soon as possible.”
