Arsenal fans will be concerned at their club’s start to the summer with no signings announced since the window opened.
The Gunners are expected to wrap up deals for Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard and Martin Zubimendi in the coming days – but it is the potential arrival of a marquee new striker signing that supporters are most concerned about.
Mikel Arteta‘s side are on the hunt for a new hitman after finishing runners-up in the Premier League in three consecutive seasons.
Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko are among the top targets for Arsenal – who are also expected to add a new left-sided winger before the September deadline.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has suggested everything will change this week as the summer window ramps up.

‘Arsenal facing hijack threat’ says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted Arsenal face a new hijack threat this week with most Premier League clubs seeing their accounting years roll over.

1 July marks the start of a new financial year for a host of top Premier League outfits, who are constrained by Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and only allowed to lose £105million over three years.
Wyness claimed Arteta will want his marquee new signings in the building imminently.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Arteta will want his squad in for a full pre-season as soon as possible.
“It’s now been another week to the end of June and on the first of July, a lot of clubs that have had PSR issues will now be over the 30 June hump into that new accounting period.
“I think there’ll be a lot of activity speeding up in the market and Arsenal may find some other suitors coming in for those players.
“I think they’ve got to get a move on. I’d hope to see something happening in this next week if they possibly can.”

Sesko sets stance on Arsenal move
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (26 June) that Sesko wants to join Arsenal this summer and the potential move is not being held up by his representatives.
Sources have told Football Insider that recent reports suggesting Sesko’s wage demands are too high for Arsenal are “nonsense”.
The 22-year-old’s move is not being held up by any issues on the player’s side as talks continue between the clubs and with the highly-rated striker.
