Arsenal Eyeing Move to Sign Juventus Star Kenan Yildiz
Arsenal are among several Premier League clubs considering a move for Juventus striker Kenan Yildiz, according to reports in Italy.
The north London club are said to be paying close attention to the Turkish international’s situation in Serie A and could take advantage of the impasse in negotiations over a contract extension.
Yildiz, whose current contract expires in June 2029, is said to have yet to reach an agreement with Juventus over the renewal of his contract as his wage demands prove difficult for the Italian giants to match.
The 20-year-old is said to be demanding £5million a year, a figure Premier League clubs would be willing to match to lure him out of Italy.
Arsenal keen on Kenan Yildiz
According to TuttoJuve, Arsenal could face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham for Yildiz’s signature next year, with all three London clubs keen to land the 20-year-old.
Mikel Arteta’s side reportedly view Yildiz as an ‘ideal’ player to complement captain Martin Odegaard and as someone who could improve his quality in the final third.
Yildiz, who joined Juventus’ youth ranks from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022, made his first-team debut the following year and has been an important part of the team ever since.
The Turkey international, hailed as a “future Ballon d’Or winner”, is the club’s top scorer in Serie A this season, with five goals in 14 appearances, and also ranks first for assists with four.
Only two Serie A players have more goals than Yildiz this season: Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez (11) and Como rising star Nico Paz (10).
Arsenal are in talks for a signing
Arsenal are closely monitoring several exciting talents ahead of the January transfer window, with Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet also on their radar.
The Gunners have reportedly held exploratory talks over a deal for the 20-year-old to find out the terms of a possible transfer.
Rennes are in a good negotiating position as Jacquet has only signed a new contract with the Ligue 1 side, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2029.
The central defender, who made his first-team debut in 2023/24, has made 15 starts for Rennes in Ligue 1 this season.
Arsenal ready for a quiet winter market?
After spending heavily during the summer transfer window on eight new players, it appears unlikely that Arsenal will make any marquee signings in January.
Mikel Arteta’s side were the third biggest spenders in the Premier League during the off-season and have no pressing need to spend on another signing, given the depth already available in the squad.
Arsenal are ‘crazy’ to sign the ‘next Paolo Maldini’ for Mikel Arteta
Arsenal are among the Premier League clubs who would be “crazy” to sign the 19-year-old defender.
