Arsenal Have Set Their Sights On This Barcelona Midfielder: Should Arteta Launch A Move For Him?
In a recent print edition, Mundo Deportivo (October 8, page 5) claimed that Arsenal had set their sights on Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado. It has been revealed that the Gunners are considering securing the services of the Spanish talent next year.

Casado’s impressive form in Spanish football

Casado was a useful player for the Catalan club last season when he put in a string of impressive performances for them in the center of the park. The 22-year-old made 36 appearances for Barcelona in the previous campaign, scoring one goal and registering six assists on all fronts.

The Spanish talent performed well in the middle of the park, making 44 tackles, 20 blocks, 22 interceptions and 22 clearances in La Liga. He was even careful when distributing the ball from midfield having completed 89.3% of his passing attempts in football’s elite (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Camp Nou will expire in the summer of 2028, so it won’t be easy for the Gunners to sign him cheaply next year.

Should Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta launch a move for Casado?

Casado is a tough midfielder who knows how to time his challenges well to win the ball back for his team in his own half. He usually gets his foot on the ball when the opposition is on the offensive.

The Spanish talent has the vision to create inviting chances in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. Casado can even score the odd goal for his team from midfield. However, it remains to be seen whether he can cope with the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Gunners manage to land him in 2026.

Casado would bring plenty of quality to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s midfield department. He has what it takes to challenge for regular first-team football at the north London club.

At 22 years old, the future looks pretty bright for Casado provided he continues to improve year after year. So, Arteta should focus on initiating a move for him next year.
