Arsenal have signed another Martin Odegaard as team-mate speaks out | Football | Sport
Viktor Gyokerres and Ben White, the former teammate of Brighton & Hove Albion FC, were gathered in Arsenal after several years of interval. The duo, which has climbed the ladder together, now presents their skills in the Premier League with the Gunners.
White has been absent since the victory over Manchester United, but approaches a return. Gyokerres, on the other hand, directed the line from the start, his position cemented by injuries to Kai Havertz and the continuous absence of Gabriel Jesus.
The pair rekindled their partnership during the pre-season when Gyokerres was on board. After going beyond the opportunity to sign Benjamin SSKKO, sports director Andrea Berta quickly moved the Swedish striker.
White expressed his pleasure in welcoming new faces to the club during the pre-season, notably Gyokerres, which he has compared to Captain Martin Odegaard. The defender revealed that he had discussions with Gyokerers before his arrival and gave an overview of these conversations.
“Yeah, I know Viktor very well,” said White about his new teammate. “We played Brighton together for a long time, perhaps three or four years, and I could even say that he was still intended for greatness. Since the time he came to Brighton, he was brought to the group of under 21, and you could see that he had something special about him.
“It was always me and he who went up the team of young people to go and train with the first team all the time, so we spent a lot of time together. We never really burst into the first team still there, but we were always on the edges when we were young.
“It’s funny how things are going because we have both been loaned to different places, and now, of course, we found ourselves in the same place after taking very different paths. I told him a little before signing, but there were a lot, so I didn’t want to disturb him. All I said to him, it would like it, but I thought it already.”

When he was asked if he was ready to tackle Swedish power daily in training, he laughed and replied: “Yeah, he’s a monster! He lives for the goals, isn’t he? He is a constant threat. You really don’t want to get in his way when you play against him, because he will move you anyway!
“It is such a great presence, and I think it will be a massive help that he has already played in English football. You see a lot of people coming in the Premier League and they have not kept what it is, and it can be difficult.
“But for Viktor, he is well used to it. He played Coventry, and I played with games with him in Brighton. So he saw it, he knows what it will look like and what to expect defenders.
“I cannot say a bad word about him, to be honest. He is one of the most professional coaches I have ever seen; he is up there with Martin Odegaard in this regard. It is great that these players arrive, because all this competition for places makes people raise their standards and it makes everyone better.”
