Arsenal Make £52m Bid to Sign Real Madrid Star Rodrygo in January
Arsenal have made a surprising offer to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid, according to reports from Spanish media outlet Fichajes.
The Gunners are looking to add quality to their attacking line and have the Brazilian in their sights as they look to maintain their place among the leading teams in world football.
Top of the Premier League and top of the league stage of the Champions League, things couldn’t go much better for Mikel Arteta’s side who look like the real deal in terms of challenging for major honors this season.
One last sprinkle of stardust could be enough to get them across the finish line, something the people of north London are determined to do.
Arsenal make offer for Rodrygo
Arsenal have made their interest in signing Rodrygo official, according to reports from Fichajes. Described as “a superstar”, Real Madrid have received two offers worth almost €60m (£56m) for the Brazilian winger.
These offers come from the Gunners and Saudi team Al Hilal.
Earning £350,000-a-week, Al Hilal are prepared to offer Rodrygo a pay boost which his representatives are carefully considering.
However, Arsenal are preparing to give the 24-year-old “constant playing time, a leading role and the opportunity to lead the attack.”
Rodrygo faces a huge decision about the future
With a big transfer interested, Rodrygo has a massive decision to make regarding his future. The Brazilian has struggled under Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid this season, having fallen down the pecking order. However, after starting the last three matches before the mid-season break, he is now back in contention at the Bernabeu.
Regarding Rodrygo’s status in the team, Alonso told the media on January 3: “Rodrygo can play in any of the three attacking positions. He finished the season in great form. Three or four good games and we had a good feeling about him. We need him, like everyone, to fill the void left by Kylian, whose absence for how long remains to be seen.”
If Rodrygo can prove himself to be a key player for Real Madrid, it would be difficult to see him choosing to leave one of the biggest clubs on the planet. But with competition from Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, Gonzalo Garcia and Franco Mustantuono, it remains to be seen how much football he will get by the end of the season.
With a decision expected this summer, Arsenal will be keenly eyeing a summer move.
