Arsenal may regret not fixing an obvious issue when they had the chance
Even though Arsenal are probably the best team in the world right now, there are things they can improve on. Some of their attacks are a bit slow and they need to improve them more consistently so they can win more games more comfortably.
There were obvious weaknesses in this team last season. And do you know what the best teams do when they see a weakness? They are trying to change it as quickly as possible.

That’s what Mikel Arteta wanted to do this summer, and he signed a few of his favorite players in positions where fresh new faces were desperately needed.
There remains, however, one position on the team that doesn’t quite have a world-class presence. Arsenal really need a strong and consistent left winger who can play football at a very high level.

This is no disrespect to the players they already have. Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli are very good. However, they are not consistent players and they are certainly not world class at the moment.

Trossard, to be completely fair to him, has been really good this season, scoring and assisting a lot of goals, and has shown some underappreciated improvements. But among fans, there’s a feeling that there might be a cut above these two.
They were reportedly in talks with Rodrygo in the summer, but that move never came to fruition. So now they need another player who can really take them to another level in an offensive sense.
In fact, the player in question’s ideal move would also have been Arsenal, but the Gunners never entered the conversation, which is a real shame.
According to David Ornstein, Arsenal had a very high appreciation for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, but they never entered into the conversations firmly.

Semenyo is an Arsenal fan, so it would have made sense for him to want to join them. That’s why Ornstein claims the Gunners would have been his first choice if they had been firmly on the table.
But that’s not the case, and it feels like a missed opportunity for marked improvement.
Arsenal really need a left winger, and he will likely hit the market this summer. But this seems like an opportunity they could have had with Semenyo, as he has been one of the best players in the Premier League in recent months, even if he has calmed down in recent weeks.
Manchester City are in advanced talks with the Englishman. So if that ends up happening, Arsenal will inevitably blame themselves for a decision they clearly needed but didn’t choose.

On the other hand, the north London team have spent a lot of money this season, and I understand why they don’t want to change too much when it’s clearly working.
But Semenyo would have been a very good option, and he is clearly talented enough to play for the Gunners.
