Arsenal news: Contact made with super agent as transfer targets jet into London

Arsenal news as major transfer plans emerge ahead of January window

Arsenal will look to assert their authority in the Premier League title race when they host Brentford on Wednesday. The Gunners were frustrated to edge out fellow side Chelsea with a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

The home side had Moises Caicedo sent off in the first half before taking the lead through Trevoh Chalobah. The Gunners took a point thanks to a Mikel Merino goal but they failed to force a winner, with their lead over Manchester City reduced to five points.

Given the busy schedule with a string of midweek matches before traveling to Aston Villa on Saturday, Arteta knows the importance of delivering a strong performance against the Bees. Here’s a round-up of the latest Arsenal news…

Gunners search for Mendes

The Gunners have reportedly been in contact with super agent Jorge Mendes over Juventus star Kenan Yildiz.

The powerful middleman is not Yildiz’s official representative, but has nevertheless been tasked with scouting potential suitors for the 20-year-old attacking midfielder.

According to Corriere dello Sportthe Gunners are among the clubs to have contacted Mendes to express their interest in Yildiz. Contract negotiations between Yildiz and Juve are said to have stalled.

The Turin giants have reportedly offered him a new contract worth £4.4million a year, with the player seeking upwards of £6million. Talks are not limited to money, with Yildiz, whose contract does not expire until 2029, keen to become a central figure at the club. The stalemate could help Arsenal, who have reportedly been ‘captivated’ by Yildiz’s performances this season.

Twins are coming

Ecuadorian twins Edwin, the right winger, and attacking midfielder Holger Quintero were in London this week to sign for the Gunners, reports ESPN.

The 16-year-old siblings, currently registered at Independiente del Valle, will sign forms which will see them officially join Arsenal in August 2027, when they turn 18. Neither have yet played senior football, although they have represented their country at under-17 level, which is useful when it comes to obtaining a work permit under the FA points system.

A string of top European teams, including Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, have been monitoring the pair, but Arsenal appear to have won the race. Burbano, who previously coached both men, compared them to Brazilian icon Ronaldinho. He said THE COMMERCIO: “People pay to see good football.

“They’re going to give you spectacular plays. They’re like Ronaldinho. Juggling, leaping, everything you can imagine, but they have to know when; think about the team first and then that.”
