Arsenal news: Gunners’ struggles from open play

Arsenal have been excellent this season but it’s fair to say that, despite their strong position in the Premier League and Champions League, their attack hasn’t really fired this season.
Forwards Gabriel Martinelli and Viktor Gyokeres are the top scorers in all competitions with nine each.
Swedish international Gyokeres was signed in a £64 million deal from Sporting as a match-winning signing this summer, but has scored just five Premier League goals.
The Gunners have been excellent from set pieces, scoring 15 goals this way in the league this season – the most of any team excluding penalties.
They have scored 42 goals in the top flight which is the second most in the division but they rank 17th for their open play goal percentage which is 57.1%.
On the other hand, they have the fourth highest set-piece goal percentage in the Premier League (35.7%).
It may just be a wobble from Arsenal as they look to win the title for the first time since 2004, but Mikel Arteta is hoping he can get one of his strikers fired to make him more comfortable.
