Arsenal news: Myles Lewis-Skelly ‘disappointed’ as club chief shuts down transfer talk
Mirror Football looks at the latest news from the Emirates Stadium
Arsenal continue to be linked with several players despite being in the middle of a Premier League title race. Mikel Arteta’s men are competing on all four fronts this season, remaining in all competitions in March.
The Gunners hold a slim lead in the Premier League table over Manchester City, who they also face in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium later this month. While Arteta will be eager to win this game and claim his first trophy since 2020, the two competitions Arsenal really want to win are the Premier League and the Champions League.
The north Londoners finished top of the latter’s league stage and found themselves in the favorable half of the last 16, as they prepare to face Bayer Leverkusen next week. But Gunners bosses still have one eye on the summer transfer market as they look to sign top talent, with Mirror football now brings you the latest news.

The Lewis-Skelly “disappointment”
Ray Parlor believes Myles Lewis-Skelly will be disappointed with his lesser role this season. The 19-year-old midfielder enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in the second half of last season, being deployed as a makeshift left-back due to further injuries.
He played in crucial matches such as the wins against Real Madrid and even earned his first England cap last year. However, he has only played 312 minutes in the Premier League this season, having become the third-choice left-back. And Arsenal legend Parlor has now given him advice on getting back into the team.

Speaking to the Metro, Parlor said: “Ethan Nwaneri can figure things out when he got his loan move to Marseille, but Lewis-Skelly will be disappointed. A lot of things happened very quickly in his career. He joined the Arsenal team, played for England and scored for England at a very young age and suddenly he was left out.
“I don’t know what his attitude is in training every day. As a youngster, you just have to put your head down. Sometimes you can get too big for your shoes when everything is going well for you. I’ve seen that happen many times with players. When you’re left out, you have to make sure you work hard in training and show the manager what you’re about.
“I’m on the outside and I don’t know what they’re doing in training or what the attitude of the remaining players is. But what I would say is that when you’re left out, you’re still in the manager’s plans but you have to work a little harder. Make sure the manager sees you and that you’re ready to do anything to get into this team.”
Inter Milan boss shuts down rumors
Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta has denied Arsenal’s interest in Pio Esposito. The 20-year-old striker has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Inter, having joined his boyhood club following two seasons on loan with Serie B side Spezia.
He has scored 13 goals this season and made an eye-catching appearance against the Gunners in the Champions League stage in January. The impressive display reportedly caught Arteta’s attention, with La Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that sporting director Andrea Berta quickly contacted Inter after the match to explore a potential deal for the player.
Inter are said to have immediately ended the approach, although Arsenal’s interest has now been denied by the Inter chief. Marotta said earlier this week: “Arsenal haven’t asked us about him. Inter don’t want to sell him and we are not a club that makes player trading its main business.
“It’s a product that grew up in the youth training center and we keep it as a treasure. We will talk about its transfer in the future but it will be a very distant future.”
Arsenal eyes German prodigy
The Gunners are looking to strengthen their midfield this summer. One of the players they are said to have their eye on is Hertha Berlin prodigy Kennet Eichhorn, 16.
That’s according to CFBayern, who claim Arsenal view the teenager as a long-term midfield candidate. The Gunners’ midfield pivot this season has mainly consisted of Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi, with Christian Norgaard unable to displace either pair.
Eichhorn has made 15 appearances this season for the German second division side. Arsenal are expected to face competition from Manchester United and Bayern Munich if they decide to pursue a transfer.
