Arsenal: Pardew stokes Gunners ‘asterisk’ fire in response to Laura Woods: ‘How many trophies?’
Alan Pardew has doubled down on his ‘asterisk’ claim about Arsenal and responded to scathing criticism from Laura Woods over his previous comments towards Mikel Arteta’s side.
Pardew was far from impressed by the performance of Arsenal in their 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at the American Express Stadium in the Premier League on Wednesday evening.
The former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager was on commentary duty during the match for talkSPORTand his assessment of Arsenal this season has been brutal.
Pardew said: “When I look at them head-on with my football manager, they are very professional.
“They are doing everything in their power to get to the finish line.
“At the moment it looks like Arsenal are going to go all the way. But there will be an asterisk next to their name.

“It’s a professional, functional display. They’re good and powerful, but there’s nothing pretty about them.”
television presenter Laura Boiswho is an Arsenal fan, called the radio station and hammered Pardew.
Woods said: “Alan, I love you, but that is the most disrespectful thing I have ever heard.
“How can you say that? Because we take free kicks, set pieces and corners? I don’t understand the thought process.
“If Arsenal win the championship, none of us fans care how we do it. I don’t care if you don’t like watching us.
“Why would we care if we entertain or not? »

Pardew was asked about Woods’ comments on The last word with Majestic and Alan Pardew display on talkSPORT on Sunday evening.
The pundit replied: “I tried to stay away from Arsenal fans. It’s not easy, you know.
“Laura Woods, I love Laura, look, there’s no conflict between the two, it takes two to have beef, right?
“I have nothing against Laura.
“I said it as a cheeky comment about how, you know, and obviously it was a tough watch to watch about Arsenal.
“There were lots of tricks going on etc, so I was a bit frustrated.
“But I didn’t really expect the reaction from one of the loves of my life, Laura Woods, to be so harsh towards me.
“We have to accept it, that’s the goal of what we do.
“You call it like you see it sometimes.
“It’s a difficult time. I want Arsenal to be remembered this year for the number of trophies they’re going to win across four competitions and they’re certainly favorites in two of them.”
Arsenal are currently seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table, although second-placed Manchester City have a game in hand.
The Gunners reached the Champions League round of 16 and the Carabao Cup final and are also still in the FA Cup.
