Arsenal sent specific Premier League request for Nottingham Forest fixture

2

Arsenal face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, with the Gunners hoping to move nine points clear at the top of the table.

Arsenal will wear a unique version of their away kit on Saturday afternoon when they take on Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, according to football.london. The Gunners are set to face Sean Dyche’s side at the City Ground (5:30 p.m.), aiming to move closer to their English league title.

Depending on Manchester City’s performance against Manchester United earlier today, the North Londoners could extend their lead at the top of the table to nine points. Mikel Arteta’s side come into the match on the back of a 3-2 win over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

Goals from Ben White, Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi put Arsenal in a strong position to reach the final of the domestic competition. Their attention now turns to the Premier League and their title race.

However, fans may notice that Arsenal are donning a different version of their away kit when they take on Forest. The Gunners will wear their blue away jersey tomorrow, as planned, but with gray socks as requested by the Premier League.

The home team will wear their usual red stripe. It is understood the request was made to avoid problems for color blind viewers.

It’s not yet clear what color shorts Arteta’s players will wear, although there is a previous example of what we can expect. Earlier in the season, Arsenal wore gray shorts and socks with their blue jersey in a match against Athletic Bilbao.

This change was necessitated by UEFA rules regarding kit clashes. The previous season, the Gunners had donned alternative shorts for their Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven.

Last weekend they wore white socks with their home shirt for their FA Cup triumph over Portsmouth, while the Championship side wore their home red socks. Ahead of the next game, Arteta spoke about the challenge Forest will pose this weekend, despite their position in the Premier League table. “A top coach, really good at what he does,” he commented.

“You can see straight away in the team, the way they play, the results they’ve had against some of the big teams as well, how constantly difficult they are to make so experienced in the league. So it’s a very difficult game.”

Asked about the latest team news, the Spaniard replied: “That might be the case, so I have to meet the medical staff now. We have a training session now and let’s see if anyone is available for the weekend.”
