Arsenal star Declan Rice mocked in vile incident by Tottenham fan with partner picture

Arsenal secured a 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday night in a fiery derby, during which Declan Rice was subjected to disgusting abuse aimed at his partner, Lauren Fryer.

A Tottenham Hotspur supporter tried to taunt Declan Rice during Sunday’s north London derby by showing him a photo of the player’s partner while appearing to hurl abuse at him. Tempers flared at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday evening, as Arsenal emerged 4-1 winners against their fierce rivals.

While jeers and shouts are commonplace in the charged atmosphere of a derby match, one Spurs fan appeared to cross the finishing line when he held up a photo of Lauren Fryer at Rice on his mobile phone.

In a Shutterstock photograph circulated on various social media platforms – which was later requested to be removed (by the player/club) – an individual in the local section of the Tottenham Hotspur stadium can be seen leaning over the advertising boards with an image of Rice’s partner displayed on their phone screen.

Rice, who was nearby, had his back turned to the fans as he walked back toward the field. This follows Fryer taking steps to delete his Instagram account in 2024 after suffering a wave of vile online trolling regarding his appearance.

Fryer’s appalling harassment began in December 2023, when an anonymous social media profile told Rice he “could do better,” while others also persistently targeted Fryer over his appearance. Therefore, Fryer made the decision to delete all photographs from his account.

With 105,000 followers on the platform, Fryer’s account still contains no posts, while she is also absent from Rice’s Instagram. In response to the April 2024 online abuse, Rice shared a heartfelt statement of support for his partner, saying, “She is the love of my life and I don’t need an upgrade.”

Fryer was also defended by Dani Dyer, partner of West Ham striker Jarrod Bowen, who said last year: “It was so difficult for her, the trolling, because she doesn’t put herself forward. I think it’s harder when you’re not in (the celebrity world) and you’re personally attacked. I found it hard. She’s a very good mother, who keeps to herself. No one deserves to be criticized like that.

“It was so cruel… We didn’t talk about it much. What we talked about was how she is so sweet and so awesome and absolutely beautiful. Plus, she’s Dec’s childhood sweetheart and you can see how much he adores her.”

Rice and Fryer first crossed paths at school before forming a relationship when they were 17, and have remained inseparable ever since. The WAG, originally from Chessington, has supported Rice throughout his career – from his early days at West Ham to his recent standout performances with Arsenal.

They welcomed a son named Jude together in August 2022 and have kept their family life mostly out of the spotlight. Despite vile attempts to ridicule him, Rice proved crucial to a Gunners side who secured a 4-1 victory over fierce rivals Spurs on Sunday, completing the full 90 minutes in the heart of midfield.

Eberechi Eze broke the deadlock for Arsenal after 32 minutes, before Randal Kolo Muani immediately restored parity. Viktor Gyokeres then restored his side’s lead moments into the second half, before Kolo Muani thought he had saved a point again.

However, the Frenchman’s second effort was ultimately disallowed due to pressure on Gabriel in the build-up, keeping the score at 2-1 in favor of Arsenal. Eze scored his brace after 64 minutes, before Gyokeres sealed the match emphatically in the closing stages of the match to claim all three points in a commanding triumph.

Following this result, Arsenal extended their advantage over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League to five points ahead of the remaining 10 matches of the campaign. Next up for Mikel Arteta’s outfit is a clash with Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday March 1.

With City having a crucial match in hand against Arsenal, the league leaders will have no margin for error as they aim to win their first championship in over two decades in May.
