Arsenal star just experienced something for the first time in over 1,000 days because of Mikel Arteta
Mikel Arteta’s squad selection for Arsenal’s clash with Brighton has got people talking, even more so at full-time.
Before the match even started, there were two discussions about Arteta’s selection, one being the absence of a right-back and the other the possible absence of a left-back.
In an already heavily changed defense, Riccardo Calafiori was forced to come off during the warm-up due to a fitness issue, putting pressure on Arteta’s adaptability.
Fortunately, Arsenal were victorious with their unorthodox back four, which saw Declan Rice play at right-back; However, it was another team call that got people talking after the game.

Eberechi Eze was once again an unused substitute for Arsenal in the Premier League
Among those on the bench, three players made headlines for their absence.
Noni Madueke and Ethan Nwaneri didn’t get a single minute, nor did Eberechi Eze.
This is the second consecutive Premier League game that Eze has had to miss, something the playmaker is unfamiliar with.
You’d have to go back to April 2022 to remember the last time Eze missed two consecutive Premier League games.

It happened around 194 weeks and 1,363 days ago, underlining just how bold Arteta’s call to leave his summer by withdrawing from the matchday action has been.
Eze needs to improve several areas of his game if he is to reclaim his place in the starting XI from Martin Odegaard, a task which was made even more difficult after the Brighton victory.
Brighton win was tough for Eze
While Eze watched from the bench, Odegaard had his best game of the season, scoring his first goal of the campaign against the Seagulls.
It’s not just the Arsenal captain whose performance would have been difficult for Eze to watch, as in the other position he plays, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have impressed.

Going from Crystal Palace’s best player to joining Arteta’s title-chasing side, Eze knew he would need to adapt, but perhaps didn’t expect his minutes to be limited as they have been.
With a busy schedule and plenty of games to play, the Englishman won’t be too worried about his future involvement, but the pressure is certainly on to impress.
