Arsenal team-mate leaves Gyokeres speechless vs Nottingham Forest | Football | Sport
Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimenddi left his teammate Viktor Gyokerres amazed with his prowess of goals in the victory of the Premier League over Nottingham Forest. The Gunners returned to the winning form after the international break, guaranteeing a triumph of 3-0 against the Ange Postcoglou team.
Zubimenddi scored his first goals for Arsenal since his transfer to the Emirates stadium, with his impressive strike, to launch the score, arriving in the 32nd minute. Gyokerres extended Arsenal’s advance shortly after half-time, before Zubimendi scored his second in the match, sealing the result with only 11 minutes to play.
Although Zubimenddi is not renowned for his score capacities, Mikel Arteta will be impatient to see him incorporate this in his Arsenal performances, even if it surprises his teammates.
In an post-match interview with TNT Sport, the Arsenal Gyokerres striker expressed his surprise to the two goals in the midfield. “I did not see him do this in training, to be fair, so it was good that he succeeded that one,” he said about the first goal. “The header too, I was a little surprised by that, but great to see him mark two.”
The match contained an additional plot while the former manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Ange Postcoglou, took the reins of his first forest match. However, it was the Arsenal players who stole the show, with the summer recruits Ebelechi Eze and Noni Madueke in particular with their performance.
“These two are incredible in their positions,” added Gyokerres. “They always do something special. We have certainly seen that today.”
The Gyokerres strike scored his third goal for Arsenal since his Sporting summer departure, the three efforts coming to the Emirates stadium. “It’s incredible, just a great feeling of scoring and getting victory too,” he said.
“It’s great, the team’s guys were incredible,” he added about his adaptation to Arsenal. “It was so easy to enter the group. But, of course, there is a little time when you have to settle with everything.”
Arsenal returned to action Tuesday evening when they face the athletics club far from their home during their first match in the Champions League (launch of 5.45 p.m.). Arsenal will not complain if Zubimenddi continues to surprise his teammates with his prowess of goals.
