Arsenal transfer news: Gunners hold ‘internal discussions’ for Real Madrid player
Arsenal are reportedly looking to sign another centre-back to complement their current options.
Mikel Arteta has prioritized the recruitment of versatile defensive profiles in recent seasons to ensure the team can compete on multiple fronts.
Although the Gunners currently have one of the most robust defensive units in European football, the recruitment team remains active in identifying high-potential prospects capable of providing long-term depth.
The latest topic of internal discussions at the Emirates Stadium reportedly concerns a teenage defender based in the Spanish capital.

BBC Sport report that Arsenal have held internal discussions regarding a potential transfer for Victor Valdepenas from Real Madrid.
The 19-year-old caught the attention of the Gunners’ scouting network after making his debut for the Spanish giants in a La Liga clash against Alaves last month.
The Spain U-20 international is a left-footed central defender who also has the technical skills to operate as a full-back.
Although no formal offer has been submitted, the north London club are said to be assessing whether to make their interest official during the current window or wait until the summer.
Valdepenas is said to have a release clause of around £43million, which could prove to be a significant hurdle for any mid-season pursuit.

Although the team is currently well equipped with William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, adding a left-footed specialist remains an attractive proposition for Arteta.
Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie are the usual substitutes, while Ben White, Jurrien Timber and Ricardo Calafiori can all play in central defense if needed.
Nonetheless, Hincapie is on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, with the deal only including an option to buy for around £45m (€52m).
If Hincapie were to leave without Arsenal exercising their option to buy, the north London club may need to sign another left-footed defender, underlining the potential importance of Valdepenas.
