Arsenal play at home for the first time in 2026 as they host Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday evening.

An error from Gabriel Magalhaes allowed Evanilson to put the Cherries ahead, but the Brazilian quickly made amends by volleying to equalize minutes later. Declan Rice turned the tables with a well-executed strike from the edge of the box before landing his second with another fine finish. Eli Junior Kroupi pulled a goal back for the hosts with a stunning effort from distance, but it wasn’t enough as Mikel Arteta’s side held on.

Liverpool failed to win for the 10th time this season in their previous match as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Fulham. Harry Wilson put the hosts ahead, but Florian Wirtz equalized for Arne Slot’s side before Cody Gakpo looked like he had won the game in the fourth minute of added time. However, Harrison Reed snatched a point from the Cottagers when he fired an absolute howitzer from virtually miles away.
Just as meetings between these two teams always seem to be, tomorrow’s game is crucial for both teams. Arsenal will look to extend their lead over Manchester City at the top of the table while Liverpool will look to secure their first win of the new year in the hope of boosting their chances of qualifying for the Champions League.

Kai Havertz could return to the bench after missing the victory at Bournemouth. Mikel Arteta confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the German has been training and is confident he will be available soon.
Riccardo Calafiori, Cristhian Mosquera and Max Dowman will all be out again as they continue to battle their respective injuries. Arteta won’t be too disappointed though with his squad’s brilliant depth allowing him to cover for their absence.
Gabriel Martinelli and Noni Madueke started the South Coast win, but they are likely to drop to the bench with Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka back on the wings on Thursday.

Liverpool are far from lucky in terms of availability as they remain without a number of key players due to various circumstances.

Hugo Ekitike missed the draw at Fulham due to muscular problems and Slot has confirmed he has not yet trained so is unlikely to be involved at the Emirates.
