Arsenal’s dream January transfer window – £40m midfielder signs and double swoop completed
Arsenal could launch into the youth player market now their first team is assembled after a busy summer window
Arsenal are top of the league and expected to fight on all four fronts next year. They still face the challenge of chasing Manchester City, but Mikel Arteta’s side look just as formidable this season.
On Christmas Day, they are two points ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side, with Aston Villa also keeping pace in third. Premier League champions Liverpool have had a far from impressive campaign and do not look threatening to the Gunners, who are seeking their first league title in more than 20 years.
There were a number of high-profile signings last summer, with Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze joining the squad and providing more firepower for Arteta.
Despite their lead at the top of the table, as Premier League fans know well, City are relentless and Arsenal will spend the rest of the campaign looking over their shoulder whether they maintain their lead for the foreseeable future.
In order to increase the gap between them and those chasing the title, Arsenal could consider tapping into the January window and signing additional players to solidify the title charge. In this article, Mirror football takes a closer look at what a dream January transfer window could look like for the Gunners.

Arsenal sign £40m star
Signing Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille would be a superb way to kick off the January window. The 18-year-old midfielder is a hugely promising talent and would not only offer fans a glimpse into their future, but also give Arteta more options in the middle of the park.
Arsenal are reportedly willing to offer just under £40million for the France Under-21 international, who is also being eyed by PSG, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool.
Speaking previously, the player said: “I extended until 2029 and next year is still far away. I am focused on this season and we have things to fight for.
“As I also said to the president (Olivier Létang), at the end of the season, there will be a choice to make, and anything can happen. We don’t know what will happen.”
Given the depth of the Gunners squad, Bouaddi is far from essential next month. But now they can afford to be greedy and get ahead of their future goals.
AC Milan duo join
As part of the club’s youth-focused transfer strategy, Arsenal are reportedly interested in a double swoop for AC Milan duo Davide Bartesaghi and Lorenzo Torriani, according to Calciomercato.
Bartesaghi is a 19-year-old left-back while Torriani is a 20-year-old goalkeeper. Both players have played for the first team and are highly rated.
If moves are to take place, it is more likely that they will take place this summer, but we are experiencing the transfer window dream here! With Arsenal having signed a host of high quality players in their prime years over the past few windows, moving a few younger players would be a wise move under the new strategy.
In fact, it will protect them from splashing money in the future. Plus, moving in January could give them time to get the deals done before other clubs swoop in for the duo.
