Arsenal saw an ambitious offer for Julien Alvarez rejected by Atletico Madridwith the Spanish club insisting the striker is not for sale.
Alongside Barcelona And Paris Saint-GermainArsenal are keen to secure Alvarez’s signature at the end of the season. Eventually, Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid for a substantial fee and has since established himself as an important figure within their team. Although he hasn’t scored as many goals as he would have hoped this season, speculation over a possible summer departure has encouraged Arsenal to resume their quest.
Arsenal make their move
Arsenal believe Alvarez would thrive in their system and add extra quality to their attacking options. In a decisive attempt to secure his services, they are said to have submitted an offer worth €105 million. Acting quickly is seen as key to gaining an advantage over competing clubs.
A quick deal would have spared Arsenal the uncertainty and competition often associated with high-profile transfers. Securing such a player ahead of their rivals would have represented an important statement of intent.

Atlético remains firm
However, as Team Talk reports, Atletico Madrid rejected the offer. The Spanish side are determined to retain the Argentine and have made it clear they have no intention of allowing his departure.
Their stance leaves Arsenal facing a considerable challenge if they wish to restart negotiations, particularly given Atletico’s firm stance that Alvarez remains central to their plans.
