Arsenal’s Premier League record in 2026 should ring alarm bells
Arsenal falter again. Just when fans think they are back on their feet again, the Gunners show how inconsistent they can be and draw where they desperately need a win.
Arsenal drew 1-1 against Brentford, and now their lead in the Premier League table has been reduced to just four points, with Manchester City having also won the day before.

If a title-aspiring team plays this way in such a huge match, they will inevitably be punished for it.
Arsenal knew they had to win this game, and rather than playing with a chip on their shoulder, they threw away one of their worst performances of the season and showed why there is still plenty for this young team to learn.
No convictions were obtained, which was the main problem. This has been the main problem for this team all season. Their defense, overall, is good at worst, excellent at best, but the floor and ceiling of their offense isn’t as high.

They continue to play very slow football, which prevents them from getting things done and getting results in the bag.

In fact, their start to 2026 has been nothing short of catastrophic. In their seven Premier League matches, Arsenal have won three, drawn three and lost one.
For a mid-table team, or a team that is fighting for the Champions League and has had a difficult run in the first two months of the year, this would make sense.
But for a team fighting for the Premier League title, that’s nowhere near enough. Manchester City have also faltered, which is why they are still four points behind Arsenal, but in reality any previous version of this team would have already been at the top of the table.
That’s the main difference between a team like Arsenal and, at least previously, any of Pep Guardiola’s championship teams: they simply find a way. Instead of taking a valuable point in a difficult stadium, they force themselves to dig deep to get three.

This is something Arsenal must learn. Obviously winning these games and eventually winning titles would get them closer to having the confidence to be able to do things, but for now Arteta needs to provide some inspiration and encouragement to this team as they are faltering.
