A four-goal blitz in the first 27 minutes grabbed the headlines, but Arteta was keen to praise his side’s defensive work.
He credited Arsenal’s desire to defend, even with a comfortable lead, as the Gunners recorded their 22nd clean sheet of the campaign in all competitions.
“It’s a big number (22 clean sheets) obviously, and it’s still February. So it’s the platform to win games,” he said in his post-match press conference.
“When you see that we are leading 4-0, that the ball is finished and that 10 players are sprinting back, it is with this desire that you have to play.
“The excitement is just for tonight. Tomorrow we start with Wolves and we know how difficult this game is going to be in the Premier League. So let’s continue.”
