Arteta reveals Arsenal are ‘actively looking’ for signings as ‘full speed ahead’ Yildiz update

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has revealed that the Gunners are “actively looking” for new signings after suffering injuries in recent weeks.

Arteta’s side are doing well this season, with Arsenal looking to end a run of three consecutive runners-up finishes by winning the Premier League title.

Arsenal are currently in the lead the first league by two points, with nearest rivals Manchester City overtaking them in recent weeks after the Gunners were hit by a number of injury problems.

This mainly impacted the defense with Jurrien Timber, Ben White, Cristhian Mosquera and Riccardo Calafiori all injured.

During his press conference on Monday, Arteta was asked if he would consider strengthening his squad in January after suffering several injuries.

Arteta replied: “I don’t know, we’re going to be really, obviously, aware of the situation and the schedule of certain players.

“When you also look at the other clubs, they have 24, 25 players, and so there is nothing special in our team, the fact is that although we have more injuries than expected, some are not avoidable, I would say, but we want to be better and we know how important it is to have the right availability with the players who will play this season.

Asked if there was room in the squad to sign players in January, Arteta added: “Depending, as I said, on the availability of certain players. So the window is there. We are Arsenal and we have to look at it.

“We have to actively search, and can we do that or not? That’s another story. But our job is to always be very prepared because something can happen, so we hope it’s very positive.”

As for whether players could be allowed to leave in January, Arteta continued: “Again, we evaluate each situation. I leave it even more to Andrea (Berta) to understand what is happening in the market and then to the individual players. Obviously we have to evaluate where we are with each of them and get the best situation.”

However, the Italian site Tuttosport claims everything is going “full speed ahead” as Juventus look to tie him down to a new deal with the Italian giants making a “huge offer” for the Turkish striker.

In the middle of interest from Arsenal and other clubs in Europe, the newspaper claims that Juventus “is wary of the sirens of England and Real Madrid: discussions are ongoing and there is a feeling of optimism”.
