A goal from Tariq Lamptey in the 80th minute halted Aston Villa’s comeback, who conceded a draw (2-2) and relapsed into their irregularity against Brighton to remain outside the European positions, with only one victory in the last four games and with the injury in the first half of Pau Torres, who left the field of play in the 20th minute with help and without putting weight on his right leg.

Unai Emery’s side, still ninth in the table, with a great final chance, already felt they had won when Brighton leveled the match.

 

Joao Pedro’s penalty on Morgan Rogers in the 32nd minute, after a lengthy VAR review, made it 1-1, scored by Ollie Watkins, and the first chance of the second half made it 2-1, with a shot from Rogers, giving Aston Villa the lead until the aforementioned 2-2.

 

Brighton are now winless in seven games, losing two and drawing five.

Aston Villa defender Pau Torres was injured in the 20th minute of the match against Brighton, without putting weight on his right leg, and was helped by two club members on his way off the pitch after receiving treatment on the pitch.

Pending a diagnosis and the relevant medical tests, the footballer was unable to continue in the match and was replaced by Tyrone Mings.
