Aston Villa has rejected a bid from Everton for Captain John McGinn, Talksport understands.

It comes in the midst of a growing interest in Scotland International from Premier League clubs.

Talksport reported earlier this week that Newcastle has identified the 30-year-old as a potential midfield goal.

Since joining the club seven years ago, he has scored 30 goals in 385 performances, after helping them to win marketing back to the top flight.

These include all but four of Villa’s League matches last season when they ended up in sixth place in the Premier League.

His performances have seen Everton join Newcastle in the race to sign him under the window in question.
