BBC pundit reveals ‘weird 12 hours where I didn’t know what to do’ led him to reject Arsenal transfer

ASHLEY Williams has revealed former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger came calling in 2013 but he rejected the offer.
Williams said Sky Sports that he rejected a move to Arsenal at the height of his Swansea career, but said he had no regrets about his decision.

The former Swansea City and Wales the central defender was approached by Wenger during a defensive crisis at Arsenal.
With Thomas Vermaelen sidelined and Johan Djourou on loan, Wenger was short of options for his backline.
The Frenchman linked up with Williams, who was then one of the Premier League’s best defenders, to join the Gunners on loan.
Speaking about his decision, Williams said: “It’s been a strange 12 hours where I didn’t know what to do.”
“It’s Arsenal, a huge club,” he admitted.
Ultimately, he decided to stay with The Swans. His decision and commitment to the team solidified his status as a club legend.
He then guided them to the League Cup final at Wembley, where they beat Bradford in a 5–0 victory to win their first major title.
He said: “I wanted to become captain Swansea and lift this trophy at Wembley.

“I don’t regret it, it’s one of my favorite days soccer.
Williams won 86 caps for Wales and guided them to the semi-final of Euro 2016, their first major tournament in more than 50 years.
Even though many players couldn’t resist the urge to play for Arsenal, the BBC One expert said he would make the same decision even now, ten years later.
