Berta allows club to complete ‘super bargain’ as terms of ‘free’ signing leaked

Hamburg would have thought it had finished a “super deal” in the summer transfer window after having signed Fabio Vieira and Albert Sambi Lokonga d’Arsenal, as well as Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur.

Lokonga joined Hamburg d’Arsenal in a permanent transfer on the day of the deadline and was quickly followed by Vieira, which signed for the Bundesliga Club on an initial loan which includes an option to buy. Promising the defender of Tottenham Vuskovic, on the other hand, will continue his development in Hamburg via a loan throughout the season.

The report adds that Hamburg paid only a “small sum” to capture Lokonga permanently, considered as only € 300,000 (£ 260,000) more bonuses.

Fabio Vieira, Albert Sambi Lokonga link to Hamburg

Arsenal took a significant blow during the sale of Lokonga, after having paid Anderlecht about 17 million pounds sterling for him in the summer of 2021. Like Vieira, Lokonga did not have a big impact on the Emirates.

The Belgian midfielder was forced to go on loan to Crystal Palace, Luton Town and Seville in order to get a game time.

He had entered the last year of his arsenal contract, which is why sports director Andrea Berta sanctioned such a cheap agreement.
