Berta makes ‘strong move’ for spectacular PSG signing as Liverpool battle erupts
Arsenal will try to beat Liverpool with the exciting signing of Bradley Barcola if their contract talks with Paris Saint-Germain stall completely, according to a report, while Manchester United have also been mentioned in a possible swap deal.
Barcola came through Lyon’s academy and made 47 appearances for the club, recording seven goals and 12 assists. The left winger’s electric performances quickly caught the attention of Lyon’s Ligue 1 rivals PSG.
As part of its strategy to move away from superstar signings and prioritize young French talent, PSG have opted for Barcola in the summer of 2023.
Lyon were forced to sell in a €45 million deal, infuriating their supporters.
Barcola has since established himself as one of France’s best players and one of the most exciting young strikers in Europe.
However, speculation is growing that he could leave the Parc des Princes.
According to Le10SportPSG chief Luis Campos “officially started discussions with the Barcola camp weeks ago.” The 23-year-old has received a contract offer including a “significant pay increase”, rewarding his impressive development.
But Barcola and his agent are weighing their options before committing. Barcola is not entirely happy with his situation under Luis Enrique, as although he has five goals and three assists this season, he has suffered turnover in recent weeks.
The report adds that Premier League clubs are “increasingly active” in seeking Barcola’s services.
Arsenal have “made a strong move” to convince the striker to leave PSG and help Mikel Arteta in his quest for Premier League and Champions League glory.
Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta vies with Liverpool for Barcola. The player has also become a target for clubs in the Saudi Pro League, although such a move is “not his priority” at this stage.

Barcola is expected to remain at PSG in January, with a blockbuster move to England more likely to happen this summer.
It was claimed on Saturday that Barcola could join Manchester United in a swap deal involving Marcus Rashford. However, it depends on whether Rashford joins Barcelona permanently after his loan.
Barcola is not the only high-profile star Arsenal are looking to replace Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left flank.
