Bukayo Saka cited as Arsenal are ‘not concerned at all’ about big-name star

Arsenal have had an excellent start to the season so far, with their Premier League and Champions League ambitions strengthening.

Mikel Arteta’s side beat Atletico Madrid 4-0 at the Emirates, continuing their impressive run of form which has seen them lose just one game this season.

Viktor Gyokeres has had a mixed start to the season since arriving from Sporting CP in a deal worth £63.5million, but bounced back with a brace against Atletico.

Before his exploits in the Champions League, the 27-year-old had gone seven matches without a goal in all competitions, despite the Gunners’ good form.

This has led Joleon Lescott to voice his concerns about Gyokeres, suggesting he remains a major weak link in Arsenal’s starting XI.

Arsenal not worried about Viktor Gyokeres

Gary Lineker also criticized Gyokeres recently, saying he could damage the Gunners’ ambitions of winning the Premier League.

However, Arteta and his coaching staff do not seem concerned with the Swedish striker’s performances and are happy with what they have seen.

That’s according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well connected within the game, as he exclusively told. Football Insider that Arsenal’s defensive dominance removes the need for an elite goalscorer.

We go back to the ‘1-0 against Arsenal’ days under George Graham.” he said Football insider.

“Gyokeres has gone seven games without scoring, which has been raised as a bit of a concern.

But I don’t think Arteta will worry about that, but I don’t see Arsenal as a team that is going to win 4-0 or 5-0 every week, that’s not how they play.

“If they want to succeed this season, they will have to build on their strong foundation.

“They dominate defensive situations and then they have enough going forward to always score a goal at some point.

“Even if they only score once or twice in a match, it will be enough to give them a victory because their defense is so good that they barely concede.

“Of course every Premier League team wants a striker who scores 25-30 goals a season, but Gyokeres won’t be that for Arsenal.

“I’m not sure any player would be that player for Arsenal, because that’s not the way they play.

“Arteta will be more than happy with what he sees from Gyokeres as he works hard and helps take the pressure off their other strikers like Saka.

“Just because he doesn’t score every week doesn’t mean he’s not a valuable player.

“So no, I don’t think Arsenal will worry about his form at all.”

Since his performance against Atletico Madrid, Gyokeres has once again been praised, while he remains highly appreciated among his teammates.

Arsenal set to beat Liverpool and Man City in title race

Brown said. Football Insider on October 22, Arsenal would have an advantage over Liverpool and Man City in the Premier League title race.

Their imperious defensive unity has seen them concede just three goals in 12 games in all competitions, while their rivals look much less solid.

As things stand, Arsenal are on course to break Chelsea’s record of just 15 goals conceded in a 38-game season, when the Blues won the title in the 2004-05 season.

The Gunners have lost just one game this season, a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield, but have since maintained their form while their rivals have stuttered.

Liverpool are on a four-game losing streak, and although Man City have returned to form thanks to Erling Haaland’s goalscoring exploits, they remain second.
