Bukayo Saka has just echoed what Arsenal fans have been thinking
Arsenal’s hard-fought victory against Wolves this weekend cannot be ignored or treated lightly, for both negative and positive reasons.
This cannot be ignored due to the importance of these types of victories. Those games where teams like Arsenal have to fight to the death and win games by small margins.
However, on the other hand, these matches shouldn’t be this close in the first place. Arsenal shouldn’t be playing in such a poor manner, especially after what we’ve seen from them in recent months.
Bukayo Saka just echoed what Arsenal fans think
One thing you can count on is fitness and injuries. Arsenal have had a lot of them, as have other clubs, but Arsenal have always maintained their first place in the Premier League and Champions League, so even in bad times they have recorded important points to maintain them.
However, it remains a factor, and Bukayo Saka on Monday was kind enough to acknowledge something that is causing it.
Speaking about the fixture congestion and not having a game midweek, he said: “It’s going to be fun, it’s been a really busy schedule. Thanks to all the boys and the staff because we’ve been so intense, but we’ve been at it and we’ve had some amazing results.
“It’s good that we have a little break, but it’s not the time to relax, it’s just the time to reset a bit and start training sessions again next week and be ready for Everton.”
It’s honestly very fair. I don’t think Arsenal fans or players will use this as an excuse to explain that they lost some pretty valuable points, as this fixture congestion has been similar for all the big teams in the country.
However, it raises a topic that deserves discussion, and I’m sure fans of other clubs will accept it as well.
These players are not robots. They have played way too much for their own good in recent years, and because of that, injuries are rapidly increasing each season.
This season alone, Arsenal have had to deal with so many injuries that it’s almost difficult to keep track of them.
So, yeah, it’s great for these players to reset and hopefully produce even better performances after the well-deserved break.
However, it is also worth noting that this cannot last forever. The authorities must accept this and come up with a plan that protects players much more than the way they are protected currently.
