Bulls-Heat delayed due to condensation on the United Center field during a wet, rainy winter night in Chicago
Condensation on the court at Chicago’s United Center delayed Thursday night’s game between the Bulls and Miami Heat by more than an hour.
On an unseasonably warm January day in the Windy City, temperatures hovered around 50 degrees with humidity near 90% and rain on the decline.
Announcement
Tip-off was scheduled for 8pm ET. Around 8:50 p.m., the teams returned to the locker rooms as the delay continues to drag on, according to The Athletic’s Joel Lorenzi.
The next state-of-the-game announcement is expected at 9:30 p.m., according to the Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman.
Before the players returned to the locker room, they found themselves on the floor, chatting with each other and cheering, according to Chicago Sports Network’s KC Johnson, who reported that Bulls forward Isaac Okoro and guard Jevon Carter were even playing HORSE or PIG.
At one point, Benny the Bull tacked a step-back shot to midcourt in front of Tyler Herro, earning a touch from the Heat star to the tune of some applause from the crowd.
