Clippers guard Bradley Beal has a broken hip and will undergo season-ending surgery

Bradley Beal’s season is over.

The Los Angeles Clippers guard has a fractured hip and will now undergo season-ending surgery, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Beal has played just six games for the Clippers this season, his first with the franchise after playing in the offseason.

Beal was listed as questionable for Monday’s game with the Atlanta Hawks due to left hip soreness, but details of the injury were not yet known. He had already missed time with a left knee injury and lower back soreness, but it is unclear when the hip injury occurred.

While the details of the fracture are unknown, Beal’s team opted for surgery.

“We have met with numerous doctors and specialists across the country in collaboration with the entire Clippers medical staff over the past few days and have come to the unanimous decision that the surgery will allow Brad to have a full and complete recovery,” his agent Mark Bartelstein told ESPN.

Beal will finish the 2025-26 season averaging 8.2 points and 1.7 assists in six games. It’s by far the fewest games played in a season in his 14-year career, although Beal hasn’t reached the 60-game mark in a single season since the 2020-21 season when he was with the Washington Wizards. That was also the last time he earned an All-Star nod.

Announcement

Beal averaged 17 points and 3.7 assists per game last season, but was demoted from the starting role midway through the year in Phoenix. He was also the subject of trade rumors before the deadline, but those never materialized. Beal signed a two-year, $10.9 million contract with the Clippers.

This post will be updated with more information soon.
