David Raya has posted on social media following Arsenal’s friendly with AC Milan on Wednesday.

The Gunners beat the Rossoneri 1-0 in Singapore thanks to a Bukayo Saka strike early into the second half.

Raya started the match as part of a strong line-up from Mikel Arteta that featured a debut outing for Christian Norgaard.

Raya was replaced in the second half by another debutant in Kepa Arrizabalaga, who saved multiple penalties in a post-match shootout, despite Arsenal losing 6-5.

15-year-old Max Dowman has been catching the eye with the senior team recently and also made an appearance from the bench, while Martin Zubimendi made his first outing in an Arsenal shirt.

Raya posted some images of himself to Instagram after the match and thanked a bumper crowd that turned out for the match at the National Stadium.

“First 45 minutes of the tour. Thank you Singapore for the reception,” Raya wrote, adding a heart emoji and the ‘coyg’ hashtag.

A host of Raya’s teammates reacted to his post, with the Spaniard getting likes from Declan Rice, Leandro Trossard, Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino.

Saka was also among the Arsenal players to thank the Singapore Gunners with his own Instagram post.

Gabriel Jesus close to welcome boost despite Gyokeres update

Football Insider verdict

Gabriel Jesus is one player who was absent from Arsenal’s squad on Wednesday as he continues his recovery from a cruciate ligament tear suffered in January.

The injury cut the Brazilian’s season short following 27 appearances across all competitions, with Jesus notching seven goals and two assists.

However, Jesus — who has two years left to run on his current Arsenal contract — appears to be well on his way back to fitness after posting videos of himself on social media doing kick-ups.

Arsenal finally appear on the verge of announcing the signing of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.

However, Arteta will need depth at the No.9 position amid intense pressure to deliver a trophy next season, meaning he’ll need a big squad to battle on all fronts.

With that in mind, he’ll be thrilled to see Jesus getting healthy again and will hope to get him back out on the pitch soon.
