Dunleavy explained Steph, Draymond are reasons to retain future sketch choices – NBC Sports Bay Area and California

The greatest question mark of the Warriors’ NBA offseason revolves around the imminent striker of free will Jonathan Kuminga.
After the first phase of the low season ended with the second round of Thursday of the NBA draft of 2025, the general manager Mike Dunleavy offered information on where the Warriors are located with the former overall choice n. 7.
In the Friday episode of “The TK Show”, Tim Kawakami asked Dunleavy the comments of Kuminga at the beginning of this week, when the 22-year-old expressed his desire to be “big” and an all-star of the NBA.
“As a young player, I love personal ambition,” said Dunleavy. “This is what I see, first of all, with the comments. He is a boy who believes in himself, he wants to see what he can do.
“I think, in the end, if we are able to bring it back, let’s see a path to be able to do some of these things here.”
While Kuminga will be free to negotiate with other teams once the NBA free agency will begin on June 30, Golden State will have the opportunity to combine any contractual offer sheet it receives from another franchise.
Kuminga’s potential is not a debate, but it is right to wonder if it can become a coherent and high -end marker in a team led by the veterans Star Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler.
By varying from the DNP-CDS to the main threat of Warriors score, Kuminga’s game time under the coach Steve Kerr floated greatly for the end of the NBA 2024-25 season. As Dunleavy recognized, Golden State will have to make a firm decision on the role of the young striker, which could influence the way both parties approach the contractual interviews.
“I think it will come out in the Wash. It will be understood, honestly,” said Dunleavy of Kuminga’s unclear role with Warriors. “And that would be the calculation for us to bring it back and he who wants to be here again. So these are all the things we have to pass and understand. These are all questions that we cannot really answer until we know what the agreement is.”
Whatever those answers end up being, it will be very interesting to see how Golden State continues to manage this saga with a nascent star.
