Duo of the Arsenal included in the list of nominated for the Player of the Year for female players PFA

The duo of the Arsenal Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo join Erin Cthbert, Mary Fowler, Yui Hasegawa and Phallon Tullis-Joyce as appointed for the player of the year of PFA women’s players.

The player of the year of the PFA players is an annual prize that recognizes the player who has had the best season in English football, voted by the players.

Bunny Shaw is the current owner of the prize after scoring 24 goals and witnessing four times in the 2023/24 campaign, but has fought with more injuries this season.

Here are the six appointed for the edition of this year award:

Mariona Caldentey (Arsenal)

Mariona left its mark in her debut in the WSL season after joining the Gunners in Barcelona last summer.

Spain International had 26 contributions for the goal in all competitions, with eight vital goals in the Arsenal race to become winners of the Champions League.

The 29 -year -old arrived third joint in the WSL for the golden boot and hopes to bring his shape for Spain to the euros this summer.

Erin Cthbert (Chelsea)

In his ninth season as a player of Chelsea, the Scottish midfielder played a fundamental role while the Blues was unbeaten in the WSL and a triple was secured.

Cuthbert scored six goals in the first season of Sonia Bompastor in office, commanding the midfield with his wealth of experience, given the absence of Sophie English and the departure of Maren Mjelde.

His 91-minute winner against Manchester City at Ethihad was decisive in the hopes of the Chelsea title, after City took an advantage 1-0.

The 26 -year -old was voted as a player of the Chelsea players’ season, highlighting his firm and determined mentality that put the blues beyond the line.

Mary Fowler (Manchester City)

While Manchester City has left fit this season, Fowler was still at its best, recording double figures in both goals and assists.

The 22 -year -old was also appointed in dispute for the young player of the PFA season, enjoying his most productive season in a city shirt since he joined 2022.

His season was interrupted in April, immediately an ACL injury against Manchester United who will see it out of action for at least nine months.

Yui Hasegawa (Manchester City)

The player of the Manchester City player season joins his teammate in the list of nominated, after a stellar season in midfield for citizens.

Hasegawa has won the possession several times than any other player in the WSL, all without giving a single foul throughout the season.

The 28 -year -old also completed the most dripping in the championship, demonstrating his value both inside and outside the ball.

The midfielder signed an extension of the two -year contract in January 2024, working in the city until 2027.

Alessia Russo (Arsenal)

Russo enjoyed a fruitful season for the Gunners in front of the Goal, ending the first joint for the Golden WSL boot with 12 goals and contributing to the European success of Arsenal with eight goals in the Champions League.

The 26 -year -old also received the female footballer of the Fwa year for his efforts, highlighting his significant role in the success of Arsenal.

International England was clinical when it was necessary, scoring a guardian in the second stage of the quarter -finals to overturn a deficit of two goals against Real Madrid.

With the euros on the rise, Russo will aim at a second Golden Boot prize while England will try to defend their title.

Phallon Tullis-Juyce (Manchester United)

The only goalkeeper to make the list of nominated. Tullis-Joyce had a superb season among the sticks, sharing the Golden Glove Award with Hannah Hampon from Chelsea.

After Mary Earps’s departure last summer, the 28 -year -old claimed the role of starting goalkeeper, making him his own. He kept 13 clean sheets in 22 WSL appearances for the Red Devils.

International USA also made its Senior international debut under Emma Hayes in April 2025, completing a season of results for the Manchester United goalkeeper.
