Eberechi Eze Transfer News: Arsenal agrees with £ 67.5 million to sign Crystal Palace forward after cutting the Tottenham move | Football news
Arsenal has agreed on an agreement of £ 67.5 million to sign Eberechi Eze after cutting Tottenham Hotspur’s trait for Crystal Palace forward.
Gunners will pay a guaranteed £ 60 million plus £ 7.5 million in addition for forward, with personal conditions that are now close to being fully agreed.
Eze’s Arsenal Medical could take place as soon as Friday.
The 27-year-old’s release clause, worth £ 60 million plus £ 8 million in addition, expired before the Premier League season started.
Sky Sports News Understand that he is still expected to be in the squad for Crystal Palace’s Conference League games on Thursday and want to say goodbye to the fans.
Spurs felt that they had an agreement in place with Palace and Eze on Wednesday before their northern London rivals ruled their interest and swept in after an injury to Kai haveertz.
Eze was one of a number of players that Arsenal looked at during the first few weeks of the window, where, significantly, much of the work was carried out in June when they examined the conditions for a deal. Since then, their focus has been on other positions and player departures.
Spurs considered offering Richarlison in a business for Eze. It would have released the seizure space for them to try to sign Yoane Wissa, who played under Thomas Frank on Brentford. Wissa still wants to join Newcastle, which received a second bid that was rejected on Wednesday.
Eze, who started in Palace’s draw at Chelsea on Sunday, has two years left on its contract in Selhurst Park.
How the battle for Eze developed
Arsenal has a long -term interest in Eze, who was previously at the books at their academy and has said he was a supporter of the club that grew up.
They explored a potential business earlier in the window, but chose not to continue a business at that stage when prioritizing to strengthen other areas of the squad and agreeing on new contracts with existing players.
Spurs then came in for Eze after Morgan Gibbs White chose to sign a new contract at Nottingham Forest and they lost James Maddison to an ACL injury.
Conversations were held between Tottenham and Palace, and Spurs felt that they had an agreement in place on Wednesday with Club and the player.
But Arsenal then came in to cut the deal on a big twist on Wednesday evening.
Analysis: Electric Eze will unlock defense for Arsenal
Sky Sports’ Peter Smith:
Eberechi Eze is electric. The 27-year-old is a joy to watch with his Poise and swagger on the ball and the craft to open up defense, not to mention his preference for making spectacular strikes himself.
He ended last season as one of the hottest prospects in the country and scored in six games in a row, including both the FA Cup semi -final and final at Wembley when he helped inspire Crystal Palace to their first major honor ever.
Last season, however, was not all ordinary sailing. “I think Ebere has had a strange season,” said Palace manager Glasner at the end of March. “He has not had many goals in the Premier League and he has been unlucky, but he continues. He has also struggled with strange injuries.”
These comments came after Eze had ignited the palace in a FA Cup tie at Fulham, made one and set up another. The prominent screen came on the back of a first goal for England. Fit and full of confidence were Eze back to its best during the mart.
It is that Livewire Maverick Arsenal will hope can unlock deep defense and get a spark to their previously predictable attack patterns. He offers something completely different from Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, the current broad left alternatives and Viktor Gyokeres will enjoy the prospect to clamp on the type of pass that has proven to be so productive for Jean-Philippe Mateta.
After releasing Gunners as a 13-year-old, Eze will be motivated to arrest a second chance in the northern London and in his premiere he looks to do just that and make a major impact on Mikel Arteta.
Analysis: Is Arsenal’s features completely down to haveertz injury?
Sky Sports News Chief Reporter Kaveh Solhekol:
“Today’s a fantastic day to be an Arsenal supporter. They have pulled off a real coup here. At the last minute, they matched Spur’s offer, and it is important to remember Eze himself is an Arsenal supporter.
“His wish was very important in this – Arsenal matched Spur’s bid of £ 60 million including £ 7.5 million in addition. Remember that he had a release clause that expired last week which was worth up to £ 68 million.
“Arsenal has been interested in signing him all summer and their fans shouted for them to make a move for him.
“When you looked at how much business they had already done this summer, you can suggest that they had to sell before bringing in another player.
“Is this trait justified by the fact that Kai Haftz raised this damage to Old Trafford? Or have they been really smart and avoided getting involved in a bid war and knew he would choose Arsenal if he had a choice – and waited for Spurs to agree on a business before they turn to the 11th hour and matched it.
“I have some sympathy for Spurs. This is not a football manager, this is real life. I do not want to kick spurs when they are down – I try to see it out of their hierarchy.
“I think they did everything they could to try to sell the club to Eze. Many Spurs fans ask why they didn’t trigger his release clause before Friday, but maybe they tried to do it and the player could have pulled his feet. Maybe he kept his alternatives open.
“Spurs fans are very angry and criticizes Daniel Levy and the owners, but I think we should keep things in perspective; this kind of thing happens all the time in the window.
“In the end, everyone knows that Eze is an Arsenal fan, like his whole family. He played for them until he was 13 when he was released.
“Why didn’t Spur’s release clause triggered? It might have to pay in a lump sum. They may have expected until it went out to get a better deal.”
