England legend says Arsenal Young is one of the best in its role
Stuart Pearce has talked a lot about Arsenal’s Myles Lewis Skelly and describes him as one of the best left-backs currently in the Premier League. The young defender came out of Arsenal’s academy until the first team last season and has quickly established itself as one of the prominent artists in the Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The club clearly knows its importance and places him as the main competitor to Riccardo Calafiori for the left-back role. Arsenal has a long history of producing elite in that position, with Ashley Cole who serves as one of the most famous examples of their academy’s success. Over the years, the left side of the defense has often been occupied by candidates in its youth system, which reinforces the club’s reputation as a place where young players are being cared for and developed into world -class professionals.
Lewis-Skellely is the latest in this row of talent, and his performances highlight how effectively Arsenal continues to identify and develop promising players. His rise to appearance has not gone unnoticed, with many observers who see him as a player who can become a crucial figure for the club in the coming years.
Pearce, who himself experienced life as an under study for Kenny Sansom before witnessing Cole’s emergence, made comparisons with that tradition when praising the Arsenal back. When he spoke via goal, he explained, “Outside my head, there are very few that are much better than Myles Lewis-Skelly, if I am quite honest with you. He has room for improvements. To year, you expect him to get much better. Arsenal has a great reputation when it comes to developing left support.

Pearce’s comments underline the level of potential seen in Lewis-Skellely, whose progress has been rapid and consistent since his breakthrough. Arsenal supporters already see him as a player who can anchor position in the coming years, and his strong performances indicate that he has the ability to reach the very highest level.
If his current course continues, Lewis-Skelly may very well spend the coming decade as one of the world’s leading left-backs, which further cemented Arsenal’s reputation to produce elite players in this crucial position.
