EPL: Rio Ferdinand names Arsenal player Arteta is thanking God he signed
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand said that Arsenal’s boss Mikel Arteta would never register Ebelechi Eze de Crystal Palace.
According to the Englishman, the boss of Arsenal “thank God” for making this particular agreement occur.
Eze joined the last Arsenal transfer window in an agreement worth 67.5 million pounds sterling.
The Gunners went beyond Liverpool at the top of the English Premier League table before the international break in October.
This followed the 2-0 victory for Mikel Arteta’s team over West Ham and the consecutive defeats for the title rivals, Liverpool.
Arsenal signed a good number of players in the summer and that helped them to continue despite their injury problems.
Speaking on his podcast Rio presents, Ferdinand praised the depth of the Arsenal team and distinguished Eze.
“I think Mikel Arteta sits there saying:” Thank God, we went and had (Ebelechi) Eze. Thank goodness that the board of directors supported me and I have a replacement ready in Eze “, said Ferdinand.
“Because I don’t think it’s of the type that would have put (Ethan) Nwaneri or (max) Dowman in this position.
“I think he could sometimes play them (Eze and Odegaard). But it’s a big problem to have.”
Due to the quality of their signatures last summer, some believe that the Gunners are the favorites to win the Premier League.
