Kepa enjoyed a successful loan spell with Bournemouth last season, keeping eight clean sheets in 31 Premier League appearances for the Cherries.

But the Spain international remains out of favour at Chelsea, and was left out of Enzo Maresca’s Club World Cup squad.

After helping Bournemouth finish ninth in the Premier League last season, Kepa has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

While the goalkeeper performed well between the sticks for Andoni Iraola’s men last season, Evanilson performed well up front, scoring 10 goals in 31 Premier League outings.

Meanwhile, taking to Instagram [23 June], Kepa posted a photo alongside his wife, captioned: “Happy birthday, my life. We love you so much!”

While the Spain international’s future remains unclear amid links to Arsenal, his post attracted a like from former Bournemouth teammate Evanilson.

Even though Kepa would be set to serve as a backup option to Robert Sanchez if he remains at Chelsea, the Spain international would also endure a lack of game time at Arsenal.

A move to the Gunners would see the 30-year-old consigned to second choice behind David Raya, which should not be an appealing option to him.

Kepa helped Real Madrid win the 2024 Champions League title by making four appearances in the European competition during the 2023/24 campaign.

After his largely successful exploits in the Spanish capital, the former Athletic Bilbao man went on to enjoy regular game time in Bournemouth colours.

Even though Arsenal will be competing in next season’s Champions League and could be battling for the Premier League title if they get their transfer business right, joining the North Londoners could be seen as a backward step at this point in Kepa’s career, as he would not be a regular starter.
